Jo Jarvis was hailing a cab along the streets of Manhattan when a man approached her. She was on her way to her dinner reservation when the encounter with the stranger changed the tone of her evening.
The accidental dog sitter
He was hiding Tiny, a Yorkshire Terrier, inside his coat. The man asked her if she was willing to buy the dog, or at least become its temporary owner. Jarvis was confused and didn’t want to be part of the man’s plan. He sensed that the woman he approached didn’t want to have anything to do with him. He asked her to hear him out.
He told Jarvis that in a few days, he would be in jail. The man wanted to make sure that Tiny will be safe before he goes behind bars. Still a bit skeptical, Jarvis asked the man to write her number down. She told him to give her a call if he still hasn’t found a home for the Yorkie.
The man called Jarvis the next day. She agreed to accept the dog but under her terms. Jarvis told the man that the Yorkie will be free and that he has to drop her off. She wanted to be sure that the stranger was sincere with what he was asking her to do. When the man showed up, he finally introduced himself to Jarvis. His name is Jose.
Guilty as charged
Jose pleaded guilty of a crime. He promised Jarvis that this is the last time she will ever find him in that position. Before leaving, he asked if he can call her to check up on the Yorkie. Jarvis told him that he can call and that he can drop by to pick up the Yorkie once he’s out of jail.
